I am not not perfect human
I am not a parent
I am not a child rearing expert
I DO however think that allowing your child to wander the playroom shoving handfuls of crisps/crackers (food items that shed copious crumbs when consumed by the handful without a plate) resulting in an entire carpeted room sporting a layer of crumbs that other children will step in and spread around
you are fundamentally doing it wrong. You just are.
Especially if the only admonishment is a gentle 'come on, sweetie' with a smile and a shake of the head. I would really like to administer the same reprimand to those parents and caregivers. Now my socks are covered in crisps.
